Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PCU RN for a night shift cardiac progressive care position requiring Epic proficiency and a NH or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of an acute care hospital
• Cardiac focus with common diagnoses including chest pain, syncope, heart failure, sepsis, overdose, GI bleed, COPD, and pneumonia
• Patient ratios are 1:5
• Float to similar units as needed
• Weekend shifts are required every other weekend
• Night shifts (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:00)
• Unit handles s/p cath with stent only (no CABG), ICD/pacer insertions, and cardioversions
• May see medical, surgical, trauma, oncology, and orthopedic overflow
• Epic EMR is used and prior experience is required
• No on-call
• Preferred skills include CPI, sheath removal, and care of ventilated patients
• Scrub color of choice is permitted
• No parking costs
• If assigned during all three major winter holidays, at least two must be worked; holiday time off is based on unit need
• A reduced travel rate applies for candidates living within 50 miles of the facility
• Block scheduling may be accommodated but is not guaranteed
• This is a trauma facility
• First-time travelers must meet all experience and Epic requirements

Requirements

• Active NH or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU experience within the last year
• AHA or Red Cross ACLS and BLS certifications required
• EKG test required on arrival
• Epic charting experience required
• References are required for consideration (may start with second reference pending)
• First-time travelers considered only with 2 years of experience and Epic proficiency
• Pending license may be accepted
• Travelers who have ever been employed at any facility associated with Elliot Health System or SolutionHealth are not eligible
