The Monitoring Technician at Mercy is responsible for continuous surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and promptly notifying healthcare staff of any cardiac rhythm changes. The role requires reviewing patient heart rhythm data to identify normal and abnormal patterns, working collaboratively within a healthcare team. Candidates need relevant technical training, attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to perform under pressure in a healthcare environment.
The Monitoring Technician is responsible for on-going surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and provides RNs and/or clinicians with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms. Reviews patient information to determine normal heart rhythm pattern, current pattern and prior variances. Works cooperatively as part of a team. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma, G.E.D. and/or current Mercy coworker. Monitor tech course completion and/or passing score of 85% on monitor tech competency exam.
- Other: Basic computer skills. Attention to detail and ability to multi-task is essential. Excellent communication skills and ability to make quick decisions under pressure is a must.
