Job Details:

• Block scheduling with 8 hours of orientation required
• Day/evening patient ratios are 5:1 (stretch to 6-7), night ratios are 6-7:1 (stretch to 8-10 if staff calls in)
• Every other weekend requirement
• Must float to other med surg units, ED boarders, ICU for stable patients, and acute brain injury units for stable patients
• Care for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including cardiac, pulmonary, pain, GI, infection, and unmanaged diabetes
• Daily census of 22 patients with 22 beds
• Required certifications: BLS
• NY nursing license required in hand to submit
• 1 year of recent experience required
• Epic charting experience is a hard requirement
• Must be competent in MS/Tele interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, feeding tube care, heparin protocols, cardiac drips management, chest tubes, external CPAP/BIPAP, high flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, and wound care/wound vac
• Work with special equipment including bladder scanners, telemetry, EKG machines, and Lifepacks
• Scrub color requirement: any combination of navy and white
• Pre-start modules required (billable up to 5 hours, total may reach 10 hours)
• Maximum 1 week RTO allowed per contract
• First-time travelers accepted
• No locals accepted (75-mile radius restriction)

This healthcare facility operates a comprehensive medical surgical telemetry unit with strong interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretaries. The facility maintains PCT staff on all units to handle vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living, along with an in-house phlebotomy team for peripheral lab draws.
