American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN with EPIC proficiency and a VA or compact license for day shifts on a busy orthopedic surgical unit.
Responsibilities- Work on a Medical Surgical/Ortho unit in a hospital setting
- Primary patient population includes scheduled orthopedic surgeries (hip, knee, shoulder, ankle, spine), fracture repairs, bone and other infections, and various surgical cases including cholecystectomy, appendectomy, colon, thyroid, hysterectomy, mastectomy, prostatectomy with CBI, as well as ARF/dialysis and diabetic management
- Nurse to patient ratios typically 1:6, may flex up to 1:7
- Day shifts are 3x12s from 6:45am to 7:15pm, with the option for 4x12s upon request
- 13-52 week contract lengths available by request
- Required to work either every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week block
- Holiday coverage required for at least one holiday per 13-week contract
- Required to float within skillset as needed
- EPIC charting experience required
- Main responsibilities include Med/Surg and orthopedic post-op care, managing surgical and medical patient populations as outlined
- Charge and preceptorship experience preferred but not required
- Must submit all time-off requests at the time of consideration
- First-time travelers are accepted for this assignment
- Local candidates are accepted, with a radius rule applicable
- Must provide a copy of driver’s license and social security number for employment verification
- Active VA or compact RN license required; pending license accepted only for single-state, non-compact
- Current BLS certification required
- Proficient in Med/Surg care with experience responding to Rapid Response and Code teams
- Experience with peripheral line care, oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management, and isolation precautions
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Ability to provide two professional references at time of consideration
