Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position on a Level 1 trauma unit, requiring a NE or Compact RN license and BLS certification.
Responsibilities
- Work in a Med/Surg unit within an acute care, Level 1 trauma hospital environment
- Patient population includes post-operative recovery, general Med/Surg, and oncology overflow cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5
- 12-hour night shifts are required
- Candidates must be willing to float within scope as needed
- Utilizes Epic EMR system; experience with Epic is expected
- Role involves care of Med/Surg and post-operative patients, including those with oncology diagnoses
- Use of RT equipment is limited to nasal cannula on this unit
- First time travelers are encouraged to apply
- Two professional references are required, one from a supervisor within the last 12 months and another from a peer or supervisor within the last three years
- Mandatory open book skills exam during orientation with a minimum passing score of 90%
- Travelers must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Fingernail policy prohibits artificial nails for staff providing patient care, non-compliance will result in contract termination
Requirements
- Active NE or Compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience
- Current BLS certification is required
- Driver’s license for verification of address and compliance with a 50-mile radius rule
- Artificial nails are not allowed for patient care roles
- Candidates must not have been employed in any capacity with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year
