PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Job Title: Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Heart Hospital
• Location: Albuquerque, NM 87102 (New Mexico nursing jobs)
• Contract Type: Travel Nursing Assignment
• Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – 55 beds
• Shift: Night, 4x12-hour shifts (18:30 - 07:00); options for 36 or 48 hours/week
• Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 1/19/2026 – End: 4/20/2026)
• Patient Ratios: 1:4
• Weekend Requirement: Rotating, as needed
• Float Requirement: Yes, to similar units
• Documentation System: EPIC
• Scrub Color: Any (no logo)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active NM or Compact RN license (required at submission)
• Minimum 1 year of recent PCU or cardiovascular nursing experience (2 years preferred)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; CPI preferred
• Cardiovascular care experience required
• First-time travel nurses welcome
• Ability to float to similar units as needed
• Experience caring for adult and geriatric patients

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the Progressive Care Unit, specializing in cardiovascular conditions such as CHF, STEMI/NSTEMI, and post-cardiac procedures
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias
• Administer blood products, cardiac drips, and IV medications
• Manage central lines, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and wound care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services
• Document patient care using EPIC electronic health record system
• Participate in rotating weekend coverage and float to similar units as required
• Maintain isolation precautions and follow protocols for high-flow oxygen, CPAP/BIPAP, and procedural sedation
