Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• First week requires day shift hours from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM for orientation
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Patient ratios of 1:4-6
• Float within service line as needed
• No on-call requirements
• 2 years med/surg experience required
• Travel experience required
• BLS certification required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Must pass Relias EKG exam for dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Navy scrubs required
• Skills required: Med/Surg, Telemetry monitoring, IV therapy and phlebotomy, colostomy care, feeding tube management, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care, PICC line management, heparin and insulin administration, PCA management
• Care for patients with ostomy, colon resection, colon cancer, bladder cancer, GU conditions, and medical overflow
• Administer various drips including heparin, lidocaine, bicarb, bivalrudin, and amiodarone
• Manage PCAs, epidurals, and continuous bladder irrigation with different solutions
• Perform special procedures including foley catheter care, CBI, TURPS protocols, and colorectal patient care
• Maximum 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
• No RTO allowed during first week of assignment

This major academic medical center is a Magnet-designated teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center with 1,266 staffed beds. The facility provides comprehensive short-term acute care services and maintains high standards for patient care and nursing excellence. The GI/GU unit (6900) is a 38-bed high-turnover surgical patient unit with a daily census of 32 patients, supported by extensive interdisciplinary services including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, and rapid response teams.
