Responsibilities and Duties
- Evaluate and treat walk-in patients with acute illnesses, minor injuries, infections, and urgent but non-emergent conditions
- Perform procedures including suturing, splinting, incision and drainage, wound care, and abscess management
- Order, interpret, and act on diagnostics such as labs, X-rays, and EKGs
- Prescribe medications and manage short-term treatment plans
- Partner with physicians and hospital staff for patient escalation, transfers, or referrals as needed
- Educate patients and families on follow-up care, prevention, and appropriate utilization of urgent care versus emergency services
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records (Meditech EHR) and ensure compliance with protocols and state regulations
Additional Information
- Must hold a valid Oregon nurse practitioner license
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
- Previous experience with urgent care procedures and independent diagnostic interpretation strongly preferred
