Our client, an innovative leader in agricultural research and technology, is seeking a Plant Automation Lab Technician to join their team. You will be part of the Controlled Environments Team supporting research and development initiatives. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of Automation and Plant Lab experience, a proactive attitude, a passion for learning, and strong attention to detail.
Job Title: Lab Technician - Plant Automation
Location: Johnston, IA
Shift: 7:30AM - 4:00PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work with compensatory days
What's the Job?
- Operate and maintain automated systems, including washers and plant care equipment
- Assist with transplanting and sampling plants within automated greenhouses
- Perform routine tasks such as driving company trucks, forklifts, and trailers
- Organize and stock supplies using forklifts and pallet jacks
- Troubleshoot and document issues within various automated systems to ensure smooth operations
What's Needed?
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid driver’s license to operate company vehicles and equipment
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test
- Basic computer skills, including MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook), and willingness to learn research software
- Ability to work independently with close attention to detail, following safety protocols
