American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with a GA or compact license, BLS and ACLS, to work night shifts in a busy Level 1 trauma and teaching hospital.
Responsibilities- Position is for the ICU within a large hospital with Level 1 trauma designation
- Float required to all ICU units including CCU, MICU, NICU, PCU, CVICU, and STICU
- Patients include medical, surgical trauma, neuro, cardiovascular, and step-down populations
- ICU nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:1-2; PCU ratios are 1:3-4
- 12-hour night shifts (7P–7A) with a 6-week scheduling cycle
- Weekend schedule includes 5-6 shifts every 12 or every other weekend
- No on-call or call back requirements
- Will float to Med/Tele units as needed
- Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, Phillips monitors, and Nova Glucose Stat Strips
- Support staff includes CNAs, a unit secretary, charge nurse, discharge nurse, PICC team, RT, hospitalist and intensivist 24/7
- Central telemetry unit with RNs responsible for strip sign-off
- 1 day general orientation and 2 days unit-specific training provided
- Holiday work required: must work either 12/24 or 12/25 and 12/31 or 1/1
- RTO requests must be approved by manager
- First-time travelers accepted
- Navy scrubs required for RNs

- Minimum 2 years recent ICU RN experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- CCRN certification preferred
- Must pass EKG competency exam during onboarding
- Experience with trach care, chest tubes, PIV starts, glucometers, and titrating drips (insulin, heparin, narcotic, paralytic, vasopressors, sedation, cardiac)
- Epic EMR experience preferred
