The Design Release Engineer develops and manages design concepts through full production, ensuring functionality and feasibility using CAD tools and validation testing. Responsibilities include project timeline management, design release, tool construction oversight, and addressing assembly and warranty issues. The role also involves on-site support during production launches and continuous improvement for cost and quality enhancements.
The Design and Release Engineer - Will be responsible for developing initial design concepts through full volume production.
Provide feasibility input for development of designs from Product Design Office (PDO) concepts, sketch, and clay models. Establish and manage development timeline for life of project. The Engineer will develop functional objectives, build objectives, DVP&R, and DFMEA. Engineer will lead design, leveraging external design source and/or internal CAD design resource. The Engineer will be responsible for the release of completed geometry using CATIA/NX CAD tools. Validate virtual designs using CAE and physical validation via component, system, and vehicle level testing. Manage internal documentation for release of systems and change management. Plan and oversee tool construction and production assemblies. On-site support for vehicle pilot builds and production launch at assembly plant. Responsible for root cause analysis and determination of corrective action for issues with assembly, fit/finish, and functional performance. Analyze and remediate warranty, identify cost reduction opportunities on production.
