American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring an NM or compact RN license, with at least 1.5 years of neuro critical care experience.
Responsibilities- Work in the Neuro ICU of a Level I Trauma, Teaching, and Children's Hospital
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
- Patient population includes TBI, SAH, SDH, tumor resections, status epilepticus, and other neurologic disorders
- Responsibilities include EVD insertions, neuro post-op care, A-line and central line insertions, intubation, CRRT, post-TPA and post-thrombectomy care, management of EVDs and CRRT equipment, and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Shifts are four 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 to 19:30
- Floating may be required to other ICUs, PCU floors (with possible 6:1 ratios), ED, and PACU to care for admitted patients
- Possible assignment to CTICU if needed due to facility needs
- Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs
- Block scheduling may be accommodated but is not guaranteed
- Uses Cerner charting system
- Day-to-day duties include comprehensive neuro critical care and advanced monitoring for complex neurological cases
- Work in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment with multidisciplinary support
- No on-call responsibilities required
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Requests for more than 7 days of RTO require approval
- Scrub color is black
- No parking fees for staff
- Active NM or compact RN license (pending license accepted)
- Minimum 1.5 years of recent Neuro ICU experience
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Demonstrated skills in neuro post-op care, ICP monitoring, EVD management, A-line and central line insertions, intubation, CRRT, post-TPA and post-thrombectomy care, and dysrhythmia management
- COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with completed documentation
- Applicants must live at least 75 miles from the facility
- Cerner charting experience preferred
