This locum tenens role seeks a licensed Psychologist for a 115-day contract at a long-term care facility in Rhode Island, starting December 2025. The position involves patient care, neuropsychological evaluations, therapy sessions, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams primarily serving nursing home-level patients. The ideal candidate holds a Ph.D. or Psy.D. with experience in psychiatric or medical settings and familiarity with behavioral therapy techniques like DBT and CBT.
We are seeking a licensed Psychologist for a locum tenens assignment in Rhode Island, beginning Dec 1, 2025, for a 115-day contract. This opportunity offers day shifts, Monday through Friday, providing care primarily to nursing home-level patients with low acuity in a long-term care environment. Job Details Location: Rhode Island Facility Type: Long-Term Acute Care Hospital (operating as a long-term care facility) Start Date: Dec 1, 2025 LOA: 115 days Provider Type Needed: Psychologist Schedule: MondayFriday, 8:30am5pm or 8am4:30pm Responsibilities and Duties Provide clinical supervision to Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs) Develop behavior plans and offer education on behavioral interventions to unit staff Attend psychology and multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, along with other relevant meetings Conduct neuropsychological evaluations such as WAIS, and tests of attention, memory, language, and executive function (no more than one evaluation per day) Maintain a 50/50 split of testing and therapy Run 12 group therapy sessions as part of the program Manage a variable caseload, with counseling sessions lasting 3040 minutes and group sessions 5060 minutes Participate actively as a member of an interdisciplinary team, collaborating with medical, nursing, social work, occupational therapy, and psychology staff Provide care to patients with psychiatric and medical backgrounds, including those with major mental health illness, some dementia, distal muscular dystrophy, and many traumatic brain injury cases Additional Information Ph.D. or Psy.D. required, with experience in psychiatric or medical settings Background in neuropsychology preferred Familiarity with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is desired Rhode Island psychology license required Benefits Strong compensation Travel-related expenses covered A-rated medical malpractice insurance provided Dedicated recruiter for future travel opportunities What are Locum Tenens Jobs?
