The Pediatric Nephrology Physician provides specialized care for children with kidney-related disorders, managing both inpatient and outpatient cases. The role involves procedures like hemodialysis and renal biopsies, with a minimum commitment of one week per month and call responsibilities on a 7-day rotation. The physician works closely with a multidisciplinary support team in a hospital setting to treat complex renal diseases and perform diagnostic evaluations.
Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 4:30 PM
Call: Beeper call, 7-day rotation (Monday 7 AM following Monday 7 AM)
Patient Volume: 5 outpatients/day; variable inpatient volume
Support Staff: 1 RN, 3 MAs, 1 PA/NP, 1 office staff
Credentialing Timeframe:60 days
Duration: Minimum 1 week (preferably 2 weeks/month commitment)
Hospital Beds: 189
Call Response Time: 15 minutes
Requirements:-
Board Certification/Eligibility:
- Pediatrics Nephrology
- Active PA Medical License
- PALS Certification
Experience with:
- Hemodialysis (Required)
- Peritoneal Dialysis (Preferred)
- Percutaneous/Needle Renal Biopsies (Preferred)
- Management of renal disorders (Bartter s, Fabry, Fanconi, Hemolytic-Uremic,
- Hepatorenal Syndromes, Renal Transplant)
- EEG Reads (Required)
Additional Notes:
- Minimum 1 week per month (preferably 2 weeks) commitment
- Call Coverage: Monday 7 AM following Monday 7 AM (includes evenings & weekends)
- Clinic Hours: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 4:30 PM
- See a minimum of 5 outpatients per day during clinic hours
- Available for inpatient rounds and consults as needed
- Typical patient mix: 70% inpatient / 30% outpatient (may vary)
