American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a critical care ICU position requiring BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and at least two years of ICU experience in a Level I Trauma Center.
Responsibilities- Work in the ICU of a short-term acute care, Magnet and teaching hospital
- Patient population includes respiratory failure, ARDS, acute cardiac events, stroke, cardiac arrest, DKA, multi-organ failure, sepsis, pre- and post-op cardiac, thoracic, abdominal surgeries, neuro-medicine overflow, transplant, and end of life/organ donation cases
- Patient ratio is 1:2
- Uses advanced equipment including IV pumps, CRRT/dialysis, ventilators, BIPAP, hemodynamic and invasive monitoring, and defibrillator/crash cart
- Epic EMR experience required
- Night shift position (3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30) with every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating within ICU service line expected
- Responsibilities include advanced ICU care for critically ill adults across a wide range of high-acuity diagnoses and post-surgical cases
- Team structure involves working alongside highly skilled ICU staff in a Level I Trauma Center
- Must wear navy scrubs per facility policy
- RTO is not permitted during the first week; no more than 7 days RTO allowed per 13-week contract
- Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Assignments longer than 13 weeks are available, with 36 or 48 hour work weeks
- All standard travelers may not reside within 75 miles of the facility and may remain for up to 18 months with a required 3-month break afterward
- Pre-employment fit testing is required, and facial hair must allow for proper mask fit
- Basic security and parking arrangements are available through the facility
- Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments required as needed
- Active MO or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of ICU RN experience required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Demonstrated proficiency in medical and surgical ICU skills, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multi-system organ dysfunction, 12-lead EKG, CVP and Swan-Ganz monitoring, arterial and central line management, blood product administration, ventilator management, IV sedation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, stroke management, BiPAP assistance, ABG interpretation, and advanced infection prevention
- Experience with Epic EMR required
- First-time travelers are not accepted
- Candidates must live at least 75 miles from the facility
