This position involves providing emergency medicine coverage at a trauma level 3 facility in Wisconsin, working 12 to 24-hour shifts with patient volumes ranging from 10 to 30 per shift. The role includes managing a 12-bed emergency department with support from experienced nursing staff, advanced practice clinicians, and tele-hospitalist services. Required certifications include ABEM, ACLS, ATLS, BLS, and PALS, with the use of Cerner EMR and real-time GPS mobile time tracking.
Coverage Needed
- Sept 5, Sept. 7-8 (nights)
- Sept 13 day/night (we could book a 24 hour shift)
- Sept 20, Sept.23-25 (days)
Schedule
- 12 hour shifts 7a-7p and 7p-7a or 24 hour shifts
Clinical Details
- 10-20 patients per shift
- 12 beds in department
- Trauma level 3 facility
- 2 locations - opportunities to float to other locations
- Average daily volume is between 25-30 with only 3-5 being actual ER patients.
- Twelve bed inpatient unit staffed during the day by NP working with a tele-hospitalist. Tele-hospitalist coverage at night. Tele-stroke planned.
- On site lab, x-ray and CT. No unscheduled MRI. Point of care ultrasound available for use by ED providers. Diagnostic ultrasound weekdays and potentially weekends and evenings (TBD).
Requirements
- Prefer ABEM
- IMLC accepted
- Must use 'real time' mobile time clock, preferably GPS
- ACLS, ATLS, BLS, PALS
Support Staff
- Experienced Nursing support
- We have an APC M-F 10AM-5p (she sees the inpatients and then moves over to ER to cover the UC patients)
