Overview
We are seeking a Personal Injury (PI) Lien Underwriter to evaluate the financial components of PI cases and support clients, attorneys, and medical providers throughout the lifecycle of a claim. This role involves financial assessment, case analysis, communication with law firms, and oversight of lien documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze personal injury case details, including injury severity, police reports, liability factors, insurance coverage, and potential settlement estimates
- Evaluate the experience and credibility of representing attorneys to assess likelihood of claim success
- Conduct financial risk assessments and maintain internal benchmarks to inform funding decisions
- Oversee the underwriting process and ensure alignment with company policies and case progression
- Act as the primary financial point of contact for attorneys and legal staff
- Build and maintain strong relationships with attorney customers, ensuring clear communication and support
- Assist with case evaluations by reviewing reports, gathering case details, and identifying relevant financial considerations
- Support injured clients by coordinating aspects of medical treatment when necessary (provider connections, treatment tracking, updates)
- Monitor case progress from intake through disbursement and provide regular case updates to attorneys
- Identify and communicate issues such as treatment gaps or missing documentation
- Coordinate communication between attorneys, paralegals, case managers, and clients to ensure clarity on next steps
- Organize and send medical records and provider bills to attorneys in a timely and accurate manner
- Manage and record medical liens and maintain documentation within internal systems
- Respond to inquiries and resolve issues efficiently to support overall case flow
- Keep internal tracking systems and documentation organized and up to date
Job Requirements
- Skills in researching case information, gathering relevant details, and providing accurate updates
- Strong analytical capabilities to assess case quality and financial risk
- Competent oral and written communication skills for interacting with attorneys, clients, and internal staff
- Strong attention to detail in documentation and recordkeeping
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Ability to learn new systems, software, and processes quickly
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate data and organized internal records
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in personal injury case management
- Strong communication skills with attorneys, clients, and team members
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Office, email platforms, and the ability to learn new software
