American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for night shifts requiring an active IL license and advanced cardiac skills.
Responsibilities- Work in the ICU/CCU unit of a critical access hospital
- 4-bed ICU with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio on all shifts
- Night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) with every other weekend required
- Floating to other units within scope as needed
- Cerner charting system is used; prior Cerner experience preferred
- No on-call responsibilities
- ICU RNs will provide care for critically ill patients with multi-system issues and complex medication needs
- Chronic and acute renal failure management is a routine part of the caseload
- Team members are expected to prioritize infection control and safety practices
- The hospital is a Magnet facility and provides free parking with a permit provided at orientation
- Solid-color scrubs of any color are required
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Scheduling requests should be discussed with the manager; RTO ideally should not exceed 5 days
- Active Illinois RN license required to apply
- Minimum of 2 years ICU experience required
- Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG
- IV insulin protocol, chronic/acute renal failure care, and advanced IV therapy skills (arterial lines, blood product administration, central/PICC line, starting IVs)
- Proficiency with continuous IV paralytics, sedation, emergency medications, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Respiratory management skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, ventilators, ABGs, and high-flow nasal cannula
- Knowledge of infection prevention, isolation precautions, and surgical wound care including wound vac
