American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care (IMC)/Stepdown position in a Level I Trauma teaching hospital with a requirement for an active IL RN license and telemetry skills.
Responsibilities- Work in the IMC/Stepdown unit of an acute care hospital
- Patient caseload includes cardiac, neuro, ortho trauma, and complex medical/surgical cases
- Responsibilities include telemetry monitoring, cardiac and neuro post-op care, and management of ventilated patients
- Unit uses Cerner charting system and experience with Cerner is preferred
- Night shifts, 3x12 or option for 4x12 hour shifts (18:45-07:15)
- Required to work every other weekend
- Floating within the hospital within scope of practice as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Duties include cardiac monitoring, hemodialysis management, IV/phlebotomy, medication drips, PCA management, sedation administration, and care for neuro, ortho, and trauma cases
- Patient care responsibilities span acute and intensive telemetry/stepdown populations
- Magnet recognized hospital with a collaborative team environment
- Parking permit required with no cost; completed during orientation
- Solid color scrubs allowed
- Time off requests should ideally not exceed 5 days
- Active IL RN license required at time of application
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience in Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings
- Current BLS and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
- ACLS certification preferred
- Demonstrated skills in the interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias, rapid response, and cardiac/vascular drips
- Experience caring for post-cardiac angiogram, cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, ortho trauma, and ventilated patients
- Experience in wound care, isolation precautions, and using a variety of respiratory and monitoring equipment
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- Experience in Level I Trauma and teaching hospital settings preferred
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
