This role is for a Hematology/Oncology Physician providing outpatient care at a chemotherapy and infusion center in Oxnard, California. The physician will diagnose, stage, and manage hematologic and oncologic conditions, overseeing infusion services and collaborating with a supportive clinical team. The position offers a structured yet flexible schedule focused on outpatient treatment without inpatient hospital consults.

Position: Hematology/Oncology Physician (Locums)Location: Oxnard, California (Coastal Community)
Coverage Dates: December 1 21 (with additional dates in 2026)
Setting: Outpatient Clinic + Infusion Center
Schedule:
- Mon Thurs: 7:30 AM 5:30 PM + night call
- Fri Sun: Remote 24-hr call coverage
- Call volume averages 5 calls/day
FTE: 1.0
Outpatient-only oncology practice no hospital consults
Work alongside an experienced NP who helps with flow, orders, and patient management
Supportive, well-staffed infusion center requiring MD onsite for treatments

You will oversee all aspects of Hematology/Oncology patient care, including:
Responsibilities- Diagnosis, staging, and management of hematologic and oncologic conditions
- Symptom management and precision-based treatment planning
- Oversight of the outpatient Oncology clinic and Infusion Services
- Collaborating with ER physicians or hospitalists for any admissions
- No inpatient oncology program all care is outpatient-driven
- Chemotherapy & Immunotherapy
- Blood & Platelet transfusions
- Hormone therapy
- Therapeutic phlebotomy
- Antibiotic therapy
- Rheumatology injections
No procedure requirements.
Support StructureYou ll work with a warm, highly functioning team:
- 1 Clinic RN
- 2 MAs
- 2 Front office staff
- 1 Quality analyst/billing
- 3 Infusion RNs
- Long-term NP (M F, 8 5) who assists with clinic and infusion coverage
- patients/day (shared between MD & NP)
- 75% of visits assigned to the physician
- iKnowMed (Clinic)
- Cerner (Infusion)
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology & Oncology (preferred)
- Can also accept candidates boarded in Hematology OR Oncology
- Completed Medical Oncology Fellowship
- Active CA Medical License
- DEA, BLS, ACLS required
- Malpractice history strongly preferred
- Able to start credentialing within 3 days of offer acceptance
- Local candidates preferred (no air travel needed)
