Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring a current NY RN license and experience with telemetry and MedSurg patient ratios.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), a critical care step-down unit with 26 beds in a hospital setting
- Patient population includes adult acute care patients requiring continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring
- Care for patients needing airway management, BIPAP support, arterial and central lines, and titrated medicated IV infusions
- Patient ratios range from 1:5 to 1:7 in MedSurg settings
- Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:00), with every other weekend required
- Uses Epic EMR; experience with Epic is required
- Responsibilities include management of cardiac monitoring, emergency response, IV therapy, and respiratory support
- Team uses a multidisciplinary approach to patient care
- Isolation precautions and evidence-based practices are emphasized
- Flexible scrub color: any combination of navy and white allowed
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Local candidates must live outside a 75-mile radius
Requirements
- Active NY RN license in hand is required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
- Must have experience with telemetry and MedSurg patient care
- Must have Epic charting experience
- Must be able to interpret and manage dysrhythmias and participate in rapid response and code teams
- Must be able to manage peripheral IV lines and perform phlebotomy
- Must be familiar with oxygen administration and non-invasive airway management
