Labor & Delivery RN – Key Details Start Dates: 1/12 or 1/19 (not flexible) Department: Labor & Delivery | Radius Rule: 100 miles Unit Stats: 9 L&D beds | 2 C-section ORs | 7 triage beds | ~9 births/day Ratios: AWHONN-based, typically 1:1–1:2 Certifications: BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Experience Required: Vaginal exams, scalp electrodes, circulate C-sections Newborn transitions, APGARS, assist anesthesia IV starts, blood draws, postpartum hemorrhage control Epidurals, amnio infusion | Preferred: spinning babies Drips: Magnesium, Pitocin, insulin, blood Patient Population: 28+ weeks, high HTN, limited prenatal care, high Spanish-speaking (Spanish preferred) Support: Free charge nurse; OB techs; OB/Neonatology & RT in-house 24/7 Monitoring: CPN Centricity EFM | OB RNs do not read tele Schedule: 12-hr shifts 6:45–7:15 (days/nights) Weekends: 3 weekend shifts per 4 weeks Holidays: 2 of 3 required (eve/day) Call: Low census on-call only (optional otherwise) Floating: Antepartum, NICU/Peds/Women’s; MedSurg/ICU with appropriate downgraded assignments Scrubs: Hospital provided Orientation: NEO + EPIC/clinical ed + 1 unit day
