Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage all sheet metal installation activities on commercial and industrial projects, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and SMACNA standards.
Coordinate daily field operations, including scheduling crews, planning manpower, and monitoring progress to meet project deadlines.
Interpret and utilize project schedules, submittals, contract documents, and shop drawings to coordinate sheet metal work with other trades.
Conduct regular site walks to monitor quality, safety, and productivity.
Collaborate with the fabrication shop to confirm material readiness, delivery schedules, and installation sequences.
Verify dimensions, layouts, and material lists from drawings prior to fabrication.
Manage material tracking, tool inventory, and job site deliveries.
Complete required electronic documentation, including daily reports, next-week plans, accurate as-built drawings, accident reports, and disciplinary reports.
Lead and supervise multiple crews, including Foremen, Journeymen, and Apprentices, across multiple job sites.
Attend weekly job site meetings and represent Upchurch Company on project schedules and work execution.
Conduct safety meetings and audits, ensuring compliance with company safety policies and OSHA standards.
Maintain strong communication between the shop, field, and project management teams.
Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices and field technicians.
Uphold company policies and procedures consistently among all supervised employees.
Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience managing commercial sheet metal construction projects.
Proven ability to supervise projects ranging from $2M–$8M+ in value.
Strong understanding of duct fabrication, installation methods, and SMACNA standards.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and mechanical plans.
OSHA 30-hour certification required.
Sheet Metal Master License in the corresponding state preferred.
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
