Job Summary:
Provide comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care using the nursing process. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care while coordinating with the multidisciplinary team. Supervise LPNs, RNPs, nursing assistants, technicians, and supplemental staff. Deliver health teaching, counseling, and supportive care to promote patient well-being. Maintain safety standards, participate in quality initiatives, support staff development, and contribute to professional growth, research, and organizational activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patient and family care needs; develop and update individualized care plans.
- Provide direct patient care and ensure alignment with medical orders.
- Supervise and support nursing staff in delivering safe, high-quality care.
- Monitor, document, and communicate patient responses and changes in condition.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary care, set priorities, and ensure timely interventions.
- Integrate age-specific needs and accept accountability for outcomes.
- Participate in QI projects, research, education, and staff orientation.
- Serve as a resource to students; assume charge responsibilities as needed.
- Maintain a safe therapeutic environment and assist other units when required.
Skills & Requirements:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift (up to 100 lbs), and work in environments with potential exposure to physical, chemical, and biological hazards.
- Proficiency in electronic health record and healthcare systems.
Preferred Experience:
- 2 years of nursing experience.
Education & Licensure:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- NY State RN license required.
- BSN or MSN preferred.
