American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a MT or compact RN license and strong Labor experience.
Responsibilities- Work in the OB unit of a Level III Trauma Center with 5 labor rooms and 8 postpartum rooms
- Patient population includes normal term and high-risk deliveries, including pre-term deliveries as early as 23 weeks
- Average caseload is 2-3 deliveries per day
- Patient ratios are 3:1 for couplets, 1:1 for active labor, and 2:1 for antepartum
- Couplet care is practiced and RNs also serve as OR circulators for high-risk deliveries
- 12-hour night shifts with a self-scheduling system over 6-week periods
- Floating may occur to the Level 3 NICU, Pediatrics, or occasionally to the adult floor as a safety sitter
- Uses Meditech and Centricity EMR systems, with Baxter IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing
- Responsibilities include providing labor and postpartum nursing care, supporting high-risk deliveries, and assisting in the designated OB OR
- Work in a collaborative environment with support from charge nurses, scrub techs handling HUC duties, phlebotomy, IV/VAT teams, respiratory therapists, and pediatric hospitalists
- Hospital provides scrubs or staff may wear scrubs of choice
- There is no on-call requirement
- Five weekend shifts are required per 6-week schedule, with weekends defined as Friday and Saturday nights
- Holiday assignments include coverage for the day before, day of, and day after designated holidays
- Up to 7 days of requested time off will be approved if the contract is extended to accommodate
- Team-oriented unit culture
- Active MT or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience required
- BLS and NRP certifications required; ACLS preferred
- Experience with couplet care, high-risk labor, and serving as an OR circulator required
- Not accepting first-time travelers for this position
