Role Overview:
As a Locum Physician in Emergency Medicine, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality emergency care to a diverse patient population. You'll work alongside a committed team of healthcare professionals, including one full-time midlevel provider, supporting a busy ED with approximately 54 patients daily in an 18-bed facility. This role demands clinical excellence, quick decision-making, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic environment, especially given the operational support, trauma level 4 designation, and various transfer protocols involved. Operating primarily using Cerner EHR, you will respond to emergencies, supervise designated staff, and coordinate transfers to referral centers when necessary. Required Skills:
- Board Certified in Emergency Medicine
- Active and unrestricted medical license in Michigan
- Proven experience managing acute emergencies in a busy ED setting
- Strong knowledge of trauma protocols, patient triage, and transfer procedures
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to supervise midlevel providers effectively
- Proficiency with Cerner EHR system
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights and weekends
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with trauma level 4 facilities
- Familiarity with interfacility transfer protocols
- Previous experience working in hospitalist-driven admission environments
- Skills in airway management and advanced trauma life support
- Knowledge of ambulance radio response and coordination
Preferred Education and Experience:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- Minimum of 2 years of emergency medicine experience
- Board Certification in Emergency Medicine
Other Requirements:
- Availability to start on or before January 1, 2026, with ongoing coverage through January 31, 2026
- Ability to respond to hospital codes and participate in emergency response activities
- Willingness to undergo credentialing process, estimated at 90 days
- Must clock in and out using DocTime; no timesheets will be approved
- Travel expenses are covered within company guidelines; lodging and taxes are not reimbursed through third-party arrangements
