Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med Surg admissions unit in a Level 1 trauma acute care setting with rotating shifts and Epic experience required.
Responsibilities
- Position is in the Admissions Med Surg unit (2A) of an acute care hospital
- Handles general Med Surg patients pending admission to other units from the ER
- 15-bed unit with all private rooms
- Nurse to patient ratio is 5:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
- Required to work 12-hour rotating shifts (0700-1930 or 1900-0730), every other weekend and holiday
- No on-call required
- Will float to other medical/surgical units as needed
- Uses Epic EMR, Omnicell medication system, Aleris IV pumps, and Zebra phones for communication
- Primary responsibilities include initial admissions and ongoing care for patients discharged from the ER until transfer to a permanent unit
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Will participate in orientation tailored for the new, fast-paced Med Surg unit
- All patients are housed in private rooms
- Travelers must live more than 60 miles from the facility; those within 60–80 miles are eligible at a reduced local pay rate
- Holiday coverage is required on a rotating basis
- Previous employment at Sanford Health locations must be disclosed for consideration
Requirements
- Current ND or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg nursing experience
- Experience in a Level 1 trauma center required
- Current BLS certification from AHA required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
