PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Ithaca, NY 14850 (New York healthcare jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 1/13/2025 – End: 4/14/2025)
• Clinical Setting: Prep & Recovery Unit (Progressive Care Unit)
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts (3 shifts/week)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1930–$2070
• Employment Type: Travel RN, W2

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license (New York State or compact license)
• At least 1 year of recent experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Step-Down Unit, or acute care nursing job
• BLS certification (American Heart Association required)
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and patient care skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients in the Prep & Recovery (PCU) setting
• Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions, recognizing changes and responding promptly
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and prescribed treatments
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams for patient care coordination and discharge planning
• Educate patients and families on care plans, procedures, and post-discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
