Weekend lab assistant responsible for specimen collection and processing, performing venipuncture, basic exempt screening and monitoring tests under CLIA/OSHA-regulated procedures, and assisting technical staff with non-clinical tasks. Requires high school diploma/GED and ~1 year phlebotomy or lab assistant experience (or current enrollment in a clinical lab program); EKG and clinical lab experience preferred. Role supports patient care in a hospital/regional medical center with weekend scheduling and adherence to regulatory and safety standards.

Responsibilities:RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Performs sample processing and exempt screening and monitoring tests in accordance with CMS (CLIA '88), OSHA and the Georgia Department of Community Health and other applicable regulatory, established standards as may be applicable. Performs venipunctures, and obtains/prepares blood specimens in accordance with Piedmont policies and procedures. Assists technical staff in non-clinical tasks.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High School graduate or GED
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
One (1) year of experience as a phlebotomist, laboratory processor or laboratory assistant. Current enrollment in a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician program may be substituted for experience.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
None
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Working knowledge of clinical laboratory processes is preferred. Experience in performing EKGs is preferred. Experience working in healthcare or clinical laboratory setting is preferred.
