Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring NM or compact RN licensure, with floating to MS/Tele, PCU, and lower acuity settings.
Responsibilities
- Work in a Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
- May float to other MS/Tele, PCU, and lower acuity units and to the Emergency Department within scope
- Patient ratios are typically 1:5, possibly up to 1:6, with ED floating ratios at 1:5
- Night shifts, 4x12 hours, 19:00–7:30
- Weekend coverage required for 2 weekends per 4-week schedule, which may vary based on unit needs
- Level I Trauma, Children’s Hospital, and teaching hospital environment
- Uses Cerner electronic medical record system
- Black scrubs required, not provided
- Duties include providing nursing care for Med/Surg Tele patients with the expectation to float as needed
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- The hospital operates at over 100% capacity, requiring strong adaptability
- No on-call requirements
- No local candidates within a 75-mile radius are accepted
- Requests for more than 10 days of time off require approval
Requirements
- Active NM or compact RN license required (license may be pending at time of consideration)
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Experience with IV starts and telemetry monitoring required
- COVID vaccination required; medical and religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation
- Applicants must live more than 75 miles from the facility
