Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Work in a progressive care unit focusing on cardiovascular patients
• 1:5 patient ratio on days, nights, and weekends
• Must be flexible with weekend requirements - able to work 50% of weekends in contract
• 36 hours of orientation provided
• Floating required to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) within hospital or affiliate hospitals
• May be assigned charge nurse responsibilities with training and resources provided
• Must agree to possibility of precepting and/or having students shadow during assignment
• Required certifications: BCLS, ACLS preferred
• Required skills: Cardiac PCU, drips, post cath lab, IV starts, sheath pulls
• Preferred skills: Conscious sedation and telemetry
• 2 years of nursing experience required
• Trauma Level I experience required
• First time travelers accepted
• Care for patients with congestive heart failure, post-MI, pulmonary hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, COPD, and other cardiovascular conditions
• Handle post-cath lab procedures, pre-LVAD placements, heart/lung transplants, and pre-valve replacements
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Call-in policy requires makeup shifts or extension of contract

This major academic medical center serves as a teaching facility and regional referral center, providing comprehensive cardiovascular care through its progressive care unit. The facility maintains a 28-bed unit with a daily census of 27 patients and offers extensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretaries.
