Emergency Room RN Supervisor Position Summary:

The Clinical Supervisor in collaboration with the Director is responsible for the continuous safe operation of the assigned department including all aspects of patient care, staffing, fiscal responsibility and strategic goals of the unit. The Clinical Supervisor is a designated leader responsible for implementation, supervision, and evaluation of safe patient care while promoting a safe environment for employees, families, and visitors. The Clinical Supervisor maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the ages, developmental stages, and special needs of the population. • Coordinates and strives to improve patient care, communication and activities between ancillary departments and physicians.
• Participates in actions/changes hospital wide that improves patient care/safety and contributes to the support of Nursing Administration initiatives.
• Oversees the formal orientation of all new personnel at any level in the unit. Assists with the feedback on the evaluation of the orientation.
• Assists with the annual evaluations on all departmental/shift specific associates.
• Assists with evaluation and improvement of patient care by assuring an ongoing unit-based quality-monitoring program to include development and implementation of PI monitors and reports.
• Assists with assuring compliance with policies and procedures as demonstrated by staff communication.
• Displays ability and willingness to respond to the needs of other health team members as needed.
• Delegates shift duties appropriately including but not limited to chart checks, defib/refrigerator logs, abnormal lab follow up and documentation, cleaning and stocking rooms, checking rooms for outdated supplies, pulling trash/linen as needed
• Manages all aspects of patient flow reports issues to the Department Director.
