Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN with ortho and Med/Tele skills, holding a TX or compact RN license and at least two years of recent experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a hospital setting
- Day shift schedule (3x12 hours), 7:00 to 19:00
- Unit has 36 beds and typical patient ratio is 1:6
- Float required to units of equal or lower acuity
- Assigned to weekends for half of scheduled shifts
- Patient population includes ortho trauma, total joint replacements, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and renal failure
- Uses Epic EMR with previous experience preferred
- Responsibilities include managing surgical and orthopedic patient care, wound care, administering blood products, and managing a variety of medical equipment
- Team environment with no travel pairs or groups accepted
- No more than 3 days of requested time off will be approved; no time off allowed during the first week of orientation
Requirements
- Active TX or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg experience required
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
- Must have experience with MS/Tele, colostomy care, feeding tube and tracheostomy management, hemodialysis management, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line management
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Applicants residing within 50 miles of the facility or in specified local counties are not eligible
- First time travelers are not accepted
- Former permanent staff must have at least 1 year separation before applying
