Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery and Obstetrics position requiring an active MN RN license, strong OB/L&D background, and ability to work rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care hospital setting on the OB/L&D unit
• Care for postpartum, stable antepartum, pediatric patients, newborns, GYN, Med-Surg overflow and may serve as 2nd RN in the Special Care Nursery
• Shifts are 12-hour rotating day and night, with every 3rd weekend and rotating holiday coverage
• Expected to float to Med-Surg and Telemetry units per union contract, with travelers as first to float
• Unit utilizes Epic EMR, Acudose, Philips Vitals Machines, Bladder Scanner, Medula Breast Pumps, Responder 5 Call light system, and Medfusion Pumps
• Patient assignments include average census of 5 couplets, 2 pediatrics, 1 GYN, 2 labor, and 4 Special Care Nursery patients
• Nurse to patient ratios are 1:3 for mom/baby couplets, 1:5 for GYN/Med-Surg, and 1:3-4 for pediatrics
• Support staff includes ward clerk, CNA, charge nurse, resource nurse, and LPN scrub nurse as available
• Duties include caring for labor, postpartum, gynecology, neonatal, pediatric, and Med-Surg overflow patients
• Equipment and unit orientation provided on first day
• Scrub color is navy blue
• All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
• Must be able to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays
• Local candidates within 80 miles may be accepted, but different compensation may apply
• Previous Sanford Health employees must have a 6-month separation prior to consideration
• First time travelers will be considered

Requirements

• Active MN RN license
• Minimum of 2 years recent OB/L&D nursing experience
• Current BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NRP certifications required
• Experience with postpartum and pediatric patients required
• Epic EMR experience preferred; experience with other EMRs considered
• Must be willing and able to float to other units as needed
