Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Work 4x12 hour night shifts
• Every other weekend schedule required
• Patient ratios of 1:3 during days, 1:4 during nights, and 1:3 on weekends
• Must be able to handle 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratio for MedSurg patients
• Float to ICU or MS units as needed
• 24 hours of orientation provided
• New York license must be in hand - no exceptions
• Must live outside 75 mile radius
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Travel experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Must have experience with arterial line or vasopressor titration
• EPIC charting experience is a hard requirement
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Scrub color: Any combination of navy and white
• Care for adult and geriatric patients requiring specialized intermediate care
• Manage patients with continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring
• Provide care for patients needing airway management, acute BIPAP support, arterial lines, central lines, and titrated medication IV infusions
• Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Use rapid response and code teams
• Manage IV therapy, peripheral line care, respiratory equipment, and isolation precautions
• Pre-approved time off: one occurrence allowed
• Modules completed pre-start with up to 5 billable hours

This tertiary care hospital features 528 total staffed beds and operates a 26-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) that serves as a critical care step-down unit. The facility provides exceptional, evidence-based care using a multi-disciplinary approach and receives patients from various areas including the Emergency Department, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Intensive Care Unit, and medical-surgical floors. The hospital offers comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary services.
