American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care/Telemetry Unit position, requiring strong PCU/MedSurg skills and 18 months of nursing experience.
Responsibilities- Work on a mix acuity Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with occasional MedSurg coverage
- Patient population includes cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, endocrine, oncology, and flex acuity patients up to ICU level
- Patient ratios are 1:5
- Night shifts, typically 3 or 4 twelve-hour shifts per week
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within hospital or to affiliated hospitals as needed
- Cerner EMR system is used and prior Cerner experience is required
- Private rooms with overhead lifts and telemetry monitoring
- Must be comfortable caring for high acuity patients including post-cardiac and thoracic surgery
- Will assist with specialized procedures and device management as needed
- Scrub color is black bottoms with a red top
- Free parking is available
- Must be willing to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Not accepting local candidates for this position
- Up to 5 days of requested time off will be auto-approved
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former perm or PRN employees must have at least 12 months gap before returning as a traveler
- Active IN or compact RN license required; pending licenses accepted but must be in hand prior to start
- Minimum of 18 months recent PCU or MedSurg RN experience required
- Current AHA or RQI BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program required
- Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias, manage post-cardiac surgery patients, TAVI/TAVR, arterial lines, blood products, central/PICC line care, and titrate cardiac/vasoactive drips required
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Experience with intra-aortic balloon pump, pre/post cardiac cath, sheath removal, LVAD/RVAD/Impella, or ventilator management preferred
