A Pediatric Hospitalist Physician provides round-the-clock inpatient care for newborns and pediatric patients, including stabilization and specialized procedures in neonatal and pediatric units. The role requires licensure, board certification or eligibility, and certifications such as CPR, PALS, and NRP. The physician oversees daily rounds, manages deliveries, and collaborates with various onsite medical specialists in a hospital setting.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Active PA License or providers who need to obtain a license
DEA Required: Yes Active State
Board Status: Board Certified, Board Eligible
Required Certifications: CPR, PALS, NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program
Minimum Years Experience (if applicable): 2
Requirement Procedures: Stabilization of a critical newborn to transfer; neonatal resuscitation; Intubation; Lumbar puncture; Peripheral venous access; Umbilical catheter placement; Circumcision; Thoracentesis; CPAP supervision
JOB INFORMATION
Typical Day: round daily in newborn nursey; average of 6 patients; round in level 2 nursery average of 4 patients; round in pediatric inpatient unit average of 3 patients. Be on call for 24hrs a day for deliveries. UPMC Altoona has a 22-bassinet level 1 well infant nursery, an 8-bed level 2 neonatal
intermediate care unit, and a 12-bed inpatient pediatric unit.
Provider will work solo
Other Specialties Onsite: OB-GYNs, in-house anesthesiology: MD and CRNA. Multiple medical and surgical specialists in-house or on-call. UPMC
Typical Cases Seen: Majority was well infants, routine delivery, however there is a level 2 nursery for newborns requiring a higher level of care.
