Registered Nurse – Cath Lab / Electrophysiology (EP) Shift: Days – 5x8-hour shifts (08:00–16:30) or 4x10-hour shifts (08:00–18:00) Location: [Facility Name] – MUSC (Medical University of South Carolina), Charleston, SC Assignment Length: [Insert Duration] Start Date: ASAP Position Summary: The Cath Lab / EP Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac and electrophysiology procedures. The RN will monitor, circulate, and assist with cases involving PCI, Impella, Balloon Pump, Shockwave, CSI, and device procedures. This position requires rapid critical thinking, technical skill, and the ability to respond promptly to emergent STEMI and EP situations. ⚠️ Travelers must live within 30 minutes of the facility to ensure timely on-call response for STEMI cases. Requirements: Experience: Minimum 1 year of recent Cath Lab and EP experience (required) First-time travelers accepted if experienced in both specialties Preferred Experience: Scrub, circulate, and monitor in all Cath/EP cases Tilt Table Studies, Cardioversion, Vascular (Carotid & Peripheral), PFA, Watchman Radiation safety compliance (radiation badge required — provided by agency) Licensure & Certifications: Active South Carolina RN License or Compact License (must be in hand prior to start) BLS and ACLS – American Heart Association only (AHA) Systems & Equipment: Charting: Epic / MAC Lab Radiation Badge: Required (agency-provided) Schedule Details: Shift Options: 5x8s (08:00–16:30) or 4x10s (08:00–18:00) Call Requirement: 1–2 weekends per month Weekend Requirement: Matches call schedule (1–2 per month) Block Scheduling: May be approved prior to assignment (not guaranteed) Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks Floating: No floating required Facility Highlights: Hospital: MUSC (Medical University of South Carolina) Total Staffed Beds: 396 Charting System: Epic / MAC Lab Scrubs: Hospital-issued Parking: Free Local Radius Rule: No locals within 60 miles accepted RTO Policy: Must be submitted at time of application; subject to facility approval Additional Note – Hurricane Season: Travelers should be aware that June through November is hurricane season. All employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams during this period. Travelers unable to meet this requirement should avoid confirming new or extended assignments during the season.
