Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift Med/Surg position in an acute care Level 1 trauma setting requiring a NE or compact RN license and BLS certification.
Responsibilities
- Work in an acute care Med/Surg unit at a Level 1 trauma hospital
- Typical patient population includes Med/Surg and post-operative recovery patients with occasional oncology overflow
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5
- Float as needed within scope of practice
- 12-hour night shifts
- Epic EMR system is used on the unit
- Responsible for providing care to Med/Surg and post-op recovery patients, with potential oncology overflow
- Required to pass a 90% open-book skills exam during orientation or face contract termination
- First time travelers are welcome
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
- Orientation includes 12 hours and skills testing
- Must be prepared to float as needed within the unit’s scope
- Holiday coverage may be required as scheduled
Requirements
- Active NE or compact state RN license in hand at the time of application
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum of 2 years RN experience with at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience
- Driver's license required for residency verification
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; candidates who have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year are not eligible
- References required: one supervisor from the last 12 months and one supervisor or peer from the past 3 years
