Academic Faculty position plays a vital role in providing clinical instruction, supervision, and mentorship to psychiatry residents and other members of the mental health treatment team. This faculty position involves combining teaching responsibilities with active involvement in direct patient care and clinical practice.
Qualifications:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
- Board certification in psychiatry.
- Strong understanding of psychiatric disorders and treatments.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Actively participates or leads teaching activities in the area of psychiatry
- Participates in the teaching program for residents.
- Performs other academic-related administrative duties as assigned.
- Participates in research and scholarly activities.
- Interest in academia/support of department residency program through participation in didactics, supervision of residents.
- Contributes to the clinical, education and scholarship missions of the department.
- Conducts thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments.
- Implements evidence-based therapeutic techniques to address diverse mental health challenges
- Establishes positive, trusting rapport with patients.
- Diagnoses and treats mental health disorders.
- Prescribes and manages psychiatric medications as needed, monitoring patient responses and adjusting treatment as needed.
