Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: Nashville, Tennessee (37203) – Tennessee nursing jobs
• Unit: 5T PCU – Cardiac Stepdown
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 1/12/2026 – End: 4/13/2026)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Schedule: Every other weekend required
• Patient Ratio: 3:1/4:1
• Documentation: Meditech EMR
• Dress Code: Scrubs (Galaxy Blue, Red, Black)
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1530 - $1640

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (Registered Nurse)
• Minimum 1 year recent experience in Cardiac Stepdown, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), or related clinical setting
• BLS and ALS certifications (American Heart Association)
• EKG Interpretation certification
• Clinical experience with post-op CABGs, vascular, and general cardiac patient populations
• Proficiency in cardiac drips/titrations and electrolyte replacement
• Experience managing chest tubes, epicardial pacing wires, and TR Bands
• Strong communication, teamwork, and responsiveness skills

Cardiac Stepdown Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients, including post-op CABG and vascular cases
• Monitor and titrate cardiac drips, manage electrolyte replacement, and perform EKG interpretation
• Manage chest tubes, epicardial pacing wires, and TR Bands
• Accurately document patient care using Meditech EMR
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes
• Float to other nursing units as needed per facility policy
• Enhance patient experience through effective pain management, communication, and responsiveness
