Job Summary
Primarily responsible for providing oversight of assigned mid-level providers by reviewing their work, providing guidance on patient care decisions, ensuring compliance with medical standards, and being readily available for consultation, while maintaining ultimate responsibility for the quality of patient care delivered by the mid-level provider; achieved thru regular chart reviews, providing feedback to mid-level providers, and addressing any complex medical situations that may arise. Secondarily responsible for serving as a staff physician, providing primary and preventive care by diagnosing and treating diseases, injuries, and other disorders.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide clinical oversight of mid-level providers by reviewing patient charts to ensure appropriate diagnosis, treatment plans, and documentation.
- Provide guidance on complex medical cases and decision-making.
- Support the peer review process by monitoring charts for potential medical errors and taking corrective action when necessary.
- Providing ongoing clinical training and mentorship to the mid-level provider.
- Must be available to the mid-level provider when the mid-level is seeing a patient, either in person, or by electronic means. Identifying areas for improvement and developing targeted training plans.
- Ensure mid-level providers under direct supervision adhere to all CCHC relevant healthcare regulations and policies.
- Monitoring quality metrics and identify areas for improvement.
- Addressing any concerns regarding patient safety or ethical practice.
- Maintaining open communication with the mid-level provider regarding patient care, concerns, and any complex situations.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members as indicated to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Communicating effectively with patients when necessary regarding their care plan.
- To serve as preceptor for medical students, nurse practitioners, physician assistant students, and residents as assigned by the CMO
- Provide medical services to the patients of CCHC, inclusive of all functions necessary to provide quality medical care.
- To stabilize and refer when necessary patients presenting to office in need of urgent care regardless of whether the patient falls within the category normally seen by that physician.
- To examine and treat any patient assigned to another provider or assist in the triaging and rescheduling should that other provider be unable to attend or complete their office duties for emergency reasons.
- To complete the patient charts according to the usual accepted standards of the medical practice and according to the specific requirements set forth by the medical record criteria requirements.
- To assist in obtaining lab specimens from their patients should difficulty be encountered in obtaining such specimens.
- To complete administrative projects as assigned by the CMO.
- To complete any requirements needed to maintain a medical license, board certification or admitting privileges at the hospital to which they admit their patients.
- To participate in the on-call schedule as set forth by the CMO.
- To be familiar with and adhere to all of the medical offices policy and procedure manuals.
- To participate in any Quality Assurance activities of this medical practice and assist with any audits necessary to complete QA activities or specific program requirements.
- Continually advise administration of any issues that may impact the practice.
- Perform other related duties assigned by the CMO.
Education, Training, and Experience
- Graduate from an accredited medical school with a degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO).
- Completion of an accredited residency.
- Board certification or board eligible in specialty preferred.
- Unrestricted license to practice within California.
- Valid DEA.
- PALS or NRP, ACLS may be required
Pay Range: $300k-330k annually
