American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in an acute care setting requiring an active IL license and current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NRP.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care Family Birthing Center providing obstetric services
- Unit includes 9 labor rooms (all convertible), 5 postpartum beds, and 1 OR suite
- Patient population includes laboring mothers, cesarean section, postpartum, and nursery patients, with Level II nursery for infants 32 weeks and up
- Common cases include preeclampsia, hypertension, high BMI, and gestational diabetes
- Assignments follow AWHONN guidelines for nurse to patient ratios
- RNs titrate Pitocin and utilize CPAP (no vents for babies; higher acuity infants transferred)
- Uses Epic EMR and OBIX EFM system
- Night shift position (7p-7a), 36 hours per week
- Weekend requirement is every third weekend
- Every other holiday coverage required if it falls within contract period
- No floating or call/standby requirements
- RNs provide holistic care across labor, delivery, postpartum, and nursery in a combined unit
- Support includes OB techs and charge nurse coverage; providers available by call, not always in house
- Dress code requires jade scrubs, which are provided
- Unit-specific orientation consists of one day hospital orientation and two to three unit shifts
- No COVID vaccination required for this assignment
- No radius rule; local pay adjustment for candidates residing within 50 miles
- First time travelers will be considered
- Active IL RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum of two years recent L&D experience required
- Current certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NRP
- Must demonstrate strong teamwork and communication skills
- Experience with Epic EMR, EFM systems, and titrating drips (Pitocin) is required
- Ability to care for labor, C-section, postpartum, and nursery patients in a combined unit
- Candidate must pass a negative drug screen
