Department: Medical Surgical Cardiac ICU | RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Unit Details: 16 beds | Ratios 1:2 (occasional 1:1 for TPA, balloon pump, post-crani) Patient Population: Sepsis, STEMI, COVID, stroke, neuro, renal/respiratory failure, COPD, cancer, DKA Advanced Therapies: ICPs, balloon pump (occasional), CRRT, Impella, EVDs, lumbar drains, hypothermia, neuro monitoring Skills: Titrate drips (sedation, paralytics, pressors, antihypertensives, heparin, insulin). RNs read/interpret tele. Support: Charge nurse takes assignment; CNAs ~1:10; full RT support (NC to vents) Schedule: 12s (6:30a–7p / 6:30p–7a). Unit scheduler assigns. Every other weekend; holidays as needed. Floating: Primarily PCU; may float hospital-wide based on skillset Scrubs: Navy blue (RN) Orientation: 2 shifts Notes: Fast-paced unit with eICU remote monitoring, bedside shift report, hourly rounding. Open to learners; strong critical thinking required. Diverse patient population. Compliance / Policies 50-mile radius rule; candidates cannot be FT/PT/PRN with CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity Driver’s license required at submittal (used to verify radius) Fingernails: Artificial nails prohibited—refusal to remove = termination Orientation Exam: Open-book RN exam on Friday; 90% required or termination RTO: Must be submitted upfront (≤7 days per 13-week contract); no post-submission RTO
