American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring an active IL license and advanced obstetric certifications.
Responsibilities- Position is in the Labor & Delivery department of an acute care, Level I trauma hospital
- 18-bed unit serving OB patients, including high risk antepartum, labor, delivery, and mother/baby care
- Night shifts available (3x12 or 4x12 from 18:00 to 06:30)
- No weekend or on-call requirements
- Floating to pediatric unit or within hospital to meet needs is required
- Cerner charting system used; experience preferred
- Responsibilities include triage, antepartum and postpartum care, neonatal resuscitation, and high-risk obstetric care
- Assists with sterile vaginal exams, non-stress and oxytocin challenge tests, and labor assessment procedures
- Supports newborn care including APGAR scoring, radiant warmers, metabolic screening, and discharge teaching
- Must be able to assist with epidural management, Foley insertion, fundus and wound assessments
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Block scheduling may be discussed with manager
- Scrubs are provided for this role
- Must work at least 2 of 3 major holidays if scheduled
- Locals are accepted with no mileage restriction
- RTO ideally should not exceed 5 days for consideration
- Active IL RN license required; must be in hand or provide proof of application with expected approval date
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
- Current ACLS, BLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring certifications required (AHA or Red Cross only; RQI not accepted)
- Expertise in antepartum, high risk deliveries, C-section circulation/recovery, mother/baby, Level I nursery, and postpartum care
- Proficiency in external and internal fetal monitoring, recognition, and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rates
- IV therapy, medication administration (including magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, antihypertensives, prostaglandins), and pain management skills required
- Must not have been a permanent or PRN employee at Memorial for at least 12 months prior to applying
