Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Work 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts in a mixed acuity PCU/MedSurg unit
• Patient ratios of 1:5
• Must be comfortable with both PCU and MedSurg patients and will work across all areas as needed
• Every other weekend requirement
• Guaranteed hours: 36 hours for 3x12 shifts or 48 hours for 4x12 shifts
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• 18 months of experience required, first-time travelers accepted
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS, NIH preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Must obtain Indiana license prior to start date
• Dress code: black bottoms and red top
• Use Cerner charting system
• 36-hour orientation period
• Floating required within hospital or to affiliate hospitals
• Skills include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, post cardiac surgery care, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management
• Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Care for cardiovascular surgery, thoracic surgery, cardiology, endocrine, and oncology patients
• Work with telemetry monitoring and various cardiac procedures including CABG, TAVR, SAVR, MVR, and VATS
• All private rooms equipped with overhead lifts

Facility:

This short-term acute care hospital features 210 staffed beds and specializes in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery services. The facility operates a mixed acuity unit that combines progressive care and medical-surgical services, with the largest patient population being cardiovascular and thoracic surgery patients. The hospital provides comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams, maintaining a daily census of approximately 30 patients.
