This position is for a Travel Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to work night shifts in a Level II Trauma acute care hospital in Decatur, Illinois. The role involves patient assessment, cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and proficiency with Cerner EMR, caring for diverse patient populations including cardiac, GI, renal, and respiratory cases. Candidates must have at least two years of recent Med/Surg experience, an active IL RN license, BLS certification, and must be willing to float to other units or affiliate hospitals as needed.

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN with current IL licensure for a night shift position requiring cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills.
Responsibilities- Work in the Medical Surgical unit of an acute care hospital
- Level II Trauma center with approximately 35 patients per day
- Night shifts available as 4x12 or 3x12 schedules (18:00–06:30)
- Every other weekend required
- Float to other units or affiliate hospitals as needed
- Utilizes Cerner charting system; Cerner experience required
- Patient population includes cardiac, GI, renal, and respiratory cases
- Responsibilities include patient assessment, monitoring, interventions, and emergency response within the Med/Surg unit
- Required to work 2 out of 3 major holidays if assignment overlaps holiday periods
- Scrub colors are blue, black, or gray
- Must be able to complete all compliance tasks and secure housing before start date
- No radius restriction for local candidates
- Must have been separated from previous permanent or PRN employment with Memorial for at least 12 months to be eligible
- Must float according to hospital needs, including to affiliate hospitals
- RTO of up to 5 days is generally approved; more requires facility approval
- Parking permit required; provided at no cost
- Active IL RN license required or proof of active application in process
- Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg clinical experience
- BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross only; RQI cards not accepted)
- Proficient in cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and rapid response
- Experience with colostomy and feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis, and renal failure
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and managing central/PICC/peripheral lines
- Proficient with Heparin, Insulin, and PCA medication administration
- Experienced in non-invasive airway and respiratory management, including CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, and tracheostomy care
- Competent in wound care including wound vac use and isolation precautions
- Cerner EMR experience required
- First-time travelers not accepted for this assignment
