American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a compact or ND RN license and strong L&D, postpartum, and gyn skills.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care hospital setting on the Labor & Delivery unit
- Unit manages labor and delivery, postpartum, and GYN surgical/postoperative patients, including high-risk cases
- Unit has 19 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 for L&D, 1:3 for mom/baby couplets, and up to 1:5-6 for mixed mom/baby and gyn cases
- Utilizes fetal monitors, OBIX centralized monitoring, vital sign monitors, suction, and oxygen equipment
- EPIC EMR is used for documentation and OBIX for L&D documentation
- Primary schedule is 12-hour night shifts with some day shifts, including every other weekend and holiday
- Float as needed to newborn nursery and NICU
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients, including high-risk deliveries and post-op GYN patients
- Care responsibilities include mother/baby coupled care and participation in surgical recovery for GYN patients
- Training includes 36 hours of orientation for travelers
- Naval blue scrubs required for gyn and mom/baby care; hospital-provided scrubs for L&D
- Facility does not accept local travelers with permanent addresses within 80 miles
- Travelers with previous employment in the health system must have a termination date at least 6 months prior to being considered
- Holiday coverage is required for assigned holidays
- Active ND or compact RN license required
- Minimum of 3 years recent experience in L&D, postpartum, and gyn care
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
- Experience with fetal monitoring and acute care L&D settings required
- STABLE certification preferred but not required
- EPIC and OBIX charting experience preferred
