Overview:
Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Seeking Graduate and Experienced Nurses interested in the Main OR
Winter & Summer 2026 Residency Programs
Who We Are:
The Main Operating Room is a Level 1 Trauma Center and Burn Center, providing surgical care to patients of all ages, including pediatrics. We have 27 Operating Rooms with 7 specialty teams, including general surgery, gynecologic surgery, urologic surgery, robotics, ENT, orthopedic surgery, and neurosurgery. We have 4 state-of-the-art robots at Mercy. We offer comprehensive training to include all service lines. Our training for nurses includes orientation to both the circulating and scrub roles at Mercy. Our Residency for nurses without Operating Room Experience offers classroom didactics, online modules, and hands-on practice to support all learning styles during orientation.
Residency program is 5 months with one month mentorship. After residency, RN moves into a mentorship which is specialty training for their new service line.
Proposed Schedule: Three 12s, Four 10s or Five 8s (Days)

Qualifications:
- Required Education: Nursing Degree from an accredited school
- License: current RN license in the state of Missouri.
- Certifications: BLS required.
