Job DescriptionThe Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) provides quality nursing care in the operating room setting. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of nursing principles and the ability to assess and address a variety of patient needs, including clinical, teaching, mental, and spiritual care.
Responsibilities- Recognize safety issues for self and others, implementing safe patient handling practices.
- Efficiently respond to stressful situations while exercising creative problem-solving skills.
- Exhibit strong leadership skills, with the capacity to prioritize and delegate effectively.
- May assume charge nurse duties as required.
- Maintain knowledge and skills necessary to ensure patient safety and an aseptic environment in the OR/ASU setting.
- Provide thorough assessments of patient's needs and deliver comprehensive care.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required, with recent operating room experience preferred.
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current New York State RN license is mandatory.
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
- Completion and successful passing of the six-month Association of Operating Room Nursing Peri-operative 101 Education Program may be required for nurses without recent OR experience.
- Minimum one year of medical/surgical experience preferred.
- Strong abilities in clinical assessment and patient care.
